Reiki was first started by Mikao Usui from Japan over one hundred years ago.
“Rei” means universal, or higher power. “Ki” means life force energy (qi, prana, etc).
Practitioners connect with this universal life energy to promote positive changes to emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being for themselves, others, animals and plants. It is noted that the practitioner is only acting as a channel for Reiki and that they help to activate the bodies natural healing response. Energy goes where it needs to go.
This is a non-invasive therapy that is very relaxing and can be done almost anywhere. The session can be done when lying down or in a seated position (whichever is most comfortable for you), while the practitioner gently places their hands over or above each of the Chakra systems. You may feel warmth, tingling, or see colors.
Reiki, just like many other modalities, works best when you are ready and willing to heal.
Benefits may include:
- Deep relaxation – stress and anxiety reduction
- Improved immunity
- Reduced pain
- Mental clarity
While practitioners are doing Reiki, their brains are in the Alpha state, which is great for taking pain away and useful in healing.
Things to keep in mind:
- Reiki can be done with clothes on
- Drink plenty of water before and after a session as this will help to get rid of toxins in the body
- Reiki helps people to heal themselves
- There are no harmful side effects, although sometimes conditions may get worse before they get better
- Reiki is not meant to replace or interfere with any other treatment. In fact, it works well along side of them.
Acupuncture + Reiki
Combining Acupuncture with Reiki for the ultimate healing experience!
After the Acupuncture needles are inserted, the practitioner will stay in the room and do Reiki on you while you relax. If you have never had Reiki before, it is like an energetic massage. The practitioner will place their hands over your different Chakra systems, working from head to toe to release energetic blockages and send powerful healing energy to every cell in your body.
This treatment will leave you feeling relaxed and renewed!
*Reiki is not a regulated form of treatment for Acupuncturists in Nova Scotia therefore can not be billed as an acupuncture service through your personal health benefits if it is being preformed as a stand alone treatment*
